WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College senior Payton Ouimette (Medfield, Mass.) was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEMWAC) Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Ouimette averaged 13.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.0 steals in a 3-0 week for the Beavers. She finished with nine points, 10 rebounds and four assists in a 66-49 victory over Brandeis last Monday, and followed it up with 14 points, seven boards, three assists and two steals in a 97-30 rout of Wheaton on Wednesday. On Saturday, Ouimette recorded her fourth double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds in addition to dishing out a season-high seven assists in a 65-54 win over Coast Guard.
Ouimette, who ranks fifth in the league in scoring (13.7), second in rebounding (11.7) and fourth in assists (3.6), and the Green and White held three opponents to just 33.5 percent shooting while forcing 21.3 turnovers per contest last week.
Babson (5-2) returns to action next Tuesday when it takes on California Lutheran at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Fla.
