WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College junior Payton Ouimette (Medfield, Mass.) was tabbed as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Ouimette averaged a double-double for the second week in a row and pulled down 15 of her 21 total rebounds on the defensive end in a pair of league wins. She put together a monster performance with 15 points, 19 rebounds and three assists in 38 minutes of Wednesday's 50-46 OT victory at MIT. Ouimette, who averaged 10.5 points and 10.5 boards over two games, had six points, two rebounds and two steals in just 11 minutes of action on Saturday against Mount Holyoke.
Ouimette, who is averaging 13.8 points and a conference-best 11.9 rebounds, leads the NEWMAC with eight double-doubles and ranks fourth in both scoring and field goal percentage (50.4).
Babson (9-4, 5-0 NEWMAC) travels to Smith on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
