Women's Basketball Wins Two National Statistical Titles
The NCAA announced its 2011-12 statistical champions this week, and the Babson College women's basketball team became the first women's squad in school history to win a national statistical crown when the Green and White led the country in a pair of categories. The Beavers led all of Division III with a .298 field goal percentage against and a +15.2 rebound advantage per game. In addition, Babson ranked second in the country with a +24.5 scoring margin (behind only Amherst's +28.1) and a .461 field goal percentage (second to Carthage's .462).

Babson Honors Class of 2012 at 31st Annual Senior Athletics Awards Banquet
The Babson College Athletics Department held its 31st Annual Senior Awards Banquet on Friday night where a total of eight individuals received honors. Two women’s basketball seniors, Kathleen King (Framingham, Mass.) and Nicole Wurdeman (Rowley, Mass.) were named co-winners of the Female Athlete of the Class, while men’s soccer senior Max Walker (Newton, Mass.) was named the Male Athlete of the Class.

Wurdeman, Collins Named D3hoops.com All-America; Big Three Also Honored By NEWBA
The final postseason awards for the 2011-12 women's basketball season have been announced, and Babson's fabulous front court tandem of senior captain Nicki Wurdeman (Rowley, Mass.), junior Sarah Collins (Weymouth, Mass.), and senior captain Kathleen King (Framingham, Mass.) each capped off the year with honors. Wurdeman was named D3hoops.com All-America Second Team and was selected as the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Player of the Year, Collins was named D3hoops.com All-America Fourth Team, and all three players were tabbed NEWBA All-Region First Team.

The WBCA announced its annual women's basketball awards on Friday, and Babson College received a trio of honors. Senior captain Nicki Wurdeman was named All-America, Sarah Collins was named All-America Honorable Mention, and Judy Blinstrub was named District I Coach of the Year.

Postseason honors continue to roll in for the Babson women's basketball team's terrific front court trio of senior Nicki Wurdeman (Rowley, Mass.), senior Kathleen King (Framingham, Mass.), and junior Sarah Collins (Weymouth, Mass.), as all three were named to the D3hoops.com All-Northeast Region Team this week. In addition, Wurdeman and King were both selected to play in the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Game on Saturday, March 24, at 1 p.m. at Western New England University.

No. 13 Women's Basketball Loses Valiant Battle With No. 1 Amherst, 61-48, In NCAA Second Round
In their biggest game of the season and perhaps their careers, the Babson College women's basketball team's vaunted front court trio of Nicki Wurdeman (Rowley, Mass.), Kathleen King (Framingham, Mass.), and Sarah Collins (Weymouth, Mass.) gave host Amherst College all they could handle. However, in the end it simply wasn't enough as the number one-ranked Lord Jeffs defeated the 13th-ranked Beavers, 61-48, in the Second Round of the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament on Saturday night.

Head coach Judy Blinstrub recorded her 500th career victory as her 13th-ranked Babson College Beavers held off a resilient Bridgewater State University team, 68-59, in the opening round of the 2012 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament at Amherst College’s LeFrak Gymnasium on Friday night.

Women's Basketball Set For Another NCAA Tournament Run
Fresh off its fourth consecutive NEWMAC title, the Babson College women’s basketball team is set to take on Bridgewater State University in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship. The Beavers and Bears will meet at Amherst College on Friday, March 2 at 6:00pm, with the winner advancing to Saturday night’s Second Round game against the winner of Amherst College (27-0) and St. Joseph’s College of Brooklyn (13-13).

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its postseason women's basketball awards on Wednesday, and league champion Babson College was once again well represented. For the third straight year, senior captain Nicki Wurdeman (Rowley, Mass.) was named NEWMAC Player of the Year, while fellow senior captain Kathleen King (Framingham, Mass.) and junior Sarah Collins (Weymouth, Mass.) joined her on the All-Conference First Team.

Babson College will begin its fourth straight NCAA Division III Tournament run at Amherst College this weekend, where the Beavers will meet Bridgewater State Unvirsity in the First Round at 6 p.m. That contest will be followed by a matchup between host Amherst and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn at 8 p.m., with the two winners meeting the Saturday's Second Round contest at 8 p.m.

With the win, the 14th-ranked Beavers (24-2) advance to Sunday’s championship game at 1 p.m., where they will meet second-seeded Smith.

Babson will host a bevy of postseason games this week, as men's basketball, ice hockey, and women's basketball all earned home seeds in their respective conference tournaments. With the win, the Beavers (23-2 overall, 18-0 NEWMAC) completed their third consecutive sweep of the conference, as they extended their regular season league winning streak to 55 games and their overall streak against NEWMAC foes to 63 contests.
