Rodriguez, Ortega Shine as Cross Country Teams Place 10th at Keene State Invitational

KEENE, N.H.—Senior Stephanie Rodriguez (Guatemala City, Guatemala) continued her assault on the record books and 11 runners posted the top times of their careers as the Babson College men's and women's cross country teams both finished 10th the at the Keene State College Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Rodriguez posted a time of 18:30 on the Owl Athletic Complex 5k course to finish sixth overall for the Beavers. She shaved 27 seconds off her fastest previous time and now owns the second fastest time in program history.

Sophomore Laurel Roney (Mahomet, Ill.) came in 65th with a career-best time of 20:37 to finish four seconds ahead of junior Camille Lewis (Cheshire, Conn.), who cut 40 seconds off her previous personal best and finished 67th in 20:41. Sophomore Amanda Karch (Sandwich, Mass.) crossed the finish line in 20:55 cutting more than 30 seconds off her previous best time, and first-year Gabriella Conte (Worcester, Mass.) posted a time of 21:06 in her collegiate debut.

Junior Caroline Winicki (Middlebury, Conn.) recorded a time of 21:22 and sophomore Nina Sitarski (Plainville, Mass.) finish in 21:36 to post season-best times, while senior Maeve Sullivan (Wilmington, Mass.) and sophomore Bridget Krauss (Marco Island, Fla.) both set new PRs.

The Babson men were led by first-year Gabriel Ortega (Pompano Beach, Fla.), who finished the 8k course in a season-best time of 27:06 to place 21st overall. Sophomore Joseph Marwill (Hingham, Mass.) came in 58th with a time of 28:28, while first-year Dylan Raimondi (Quincy, Mass.) posted a season-best time of 28:38 to finish 61st.

Senior Samir Arora (Fremont, Calif.) and sophomore Collin Regan (Pittsford, N.Y.) both crossed the finish line in 28:41 to grab 62nd and 63rd place, respectively. First-year Thomas Croissant (Carpentersville, Ill.), who finished the course in 29:05, and sophomore Matthew Campbell (South Easton, Mass.), who posted a time of 29:24, both recorded their results of the fall.

Babson returns to action on October 19 when it travels to Springfield for the Western New England Invitational.

MEET NOTES
• Rodriguez's time of 18:30 sits behind only Marina Capalbo's '15 school-record time of 18:25 set back in 2013 at Mass. Maritime's Travis J. Fuller Invitational.
• Ortega's 8k time of 27:06 is the fastest by a Babson male this season.
• The Beavers finished ahead of fellow NEWMAC members Clark and Wheaton in both the men's and women's races.
• Babson was competing at Keene State for the first time since 2010.
