NEW ORLEANS—The Babson College men's and women's cross country teams were among 389 squads recognized for their success in the classroom with United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honors on Thursday.
Under the direction of head coach Russ Brennen, the Beavers' women's squad garnered its 10th consecutive All-Academic Team award. Five student-athletes finished the fall semester with a grade-point average of at least 3.50, and the team posted a 3.37 cumulative GPA to join 215 other women's teams to be honored by the USTFCCCA.
The Babson men, one of 173 teams to earn All-Academic Team laurels, were recognized by the USTFCCCA for the ninth consecutive season. The squad finished with a 3.12 cumulative GPA and had six members of the program achieve a semester GPA of 3.40 or higher.
In order to qualify for program honors, teams must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or higher and have competed in at least five different meets during the season.
The Babson men came in third, while the women finished 11th at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships back in late October.
