Cross Country, Track & Field Teams Volunteer at Jimmy Fund Walk

BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College men's and women's cross country and track & field teams volunteered at the 2016 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk for the eighth year in a row last Sunday.
Under the direction of cross country and track & field head coach Russ Brennen, the programs spent much of the day working in shifts behind the scenes to help the event run smoothly. In addition to assisting walk organizers with setup and cleanup, Babson student-athletes performed a variety of tasks, including cheering on the walkers.
While his student-athletes were volunteering on the course, Brennen participated in the walk with Babson Trustee, former professor and cancer survivor Len Green.
"We unfortunately all know someone who has cancer, has survived cancer or has lost the fight to cancer," said Brennen. "It's an awful, ugly disease, and the people at the Jimmy Fund are working hard to help find a cure. Although we play a small part, it's an important one. Supporting this day and cause each year is special for our programs."
