NEW LONDON, Conn.— First-year Katherine Jacobs (East Granby, Conn.) finished first in the 100-meter hurdles, running 14.80 to equal her school record, as the Babson College men's and women's track & field teams wrapped up day two of the Connecticut College Silfen Invitational.
Jacobs, who won the 100-meter hurdles for the second time in as many weeks, finished 0.34 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher in the event. Sophomore Ana Lamoso (San Juan, Puerto Rico) won her heat of the 400-meter dash in a personal-best 1:02.32, while first-year Sydney McLaughlin (Sherborn, Mass.) finished right behind her running 1:03.04.
First-year Nina Sitarski (Plainville, Mass.) ran a career-best 5:31.53 in the 1500 meters to finish second in her heat, while sophomore Grace Regan (Kingston, N.Y.) finished fourth in her section of the 800-meter run with a time of 2:29.90.
On the men's side, junior Jeremie Cabling (Hawthorne, N.J.) ran a career-best 17.08 in the 100-meter hurdles, sophomore Ethan Kohanik (Delran, N.J.) turned in a 17.43 in his 100-meter hurdle debut and first-year Michael Cantaluppi (Randolph, N.J.) ran a personal-best 4:45.99 in the 1500 meters.
Babson returns to action next weekend at the Sean Collier Invitational hosted by MIT on Saturday morning.
