WATERVILLE, Maine—The Babson College men's tennis team kicked off its 2019-20 season on Friday after when it participated in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) New England Championships at Colby College.
Five different players competed for the Beavers, who saw junior Andre Libnic (Coral Gables, Fla.) advance to the second round of the 64-player singles bracket. He defeated Arthur Wicke of Coast Guard 6-1, 6-3 in his opening match before falling to Alex Taylor of Williams in the round of 32, 6-1, 6-2.
First-year Jason Weisman (Claremont, Calif.) dropped his collegiate debut against third-seeded David Aizenberg of Brandeis, 6-4, 6-2, while classmate Maxwell Conlin (Alameda, Calif.) took the opening set before suffering a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 loss to sixth-seeded Anupreeth Coramutla of Brandeis. Babson's lone participants in the doubles draw, senior Dylan Pace (Atherton, Calif.) and junior Chris Kolesnik (Staten Island, N.Y.), suffered an 8-2 setback in their opening round match against Oscar Yang and Tristan Bradley of Bowdoin.
The Beavers play their first dual match of the season on Tuesday when they host Eastern Nazarene at 2:30 p.m.
