Men's Tennis Tripped Up by No. 10 Brandeis, 8-1

WALTHAM, Mass.—Visiting Babson College took a point at number three doubles but dropped all six singles matches in straight sets and suffered an 8-1 loss to 10th-ranked Brandeis University on Wednesday afternoon inside the Gosman Sports Complex.

Babson, which has lost three straight matches, slips to 6-3 overall, while Brandeis improves to 10-2 with its second consecutive win.

After dropping matches at first and second doubles, the Beavers picked up their first point of the match at number three as junior Dylan Pace (Atherton, Calif.) and first-year Tyler Zhang (Southborough, Mass.) upended first-year Colt Tegtmeier (Madison, Wis.) and senior Tyler Ng (Great Neck, N.Y.) 8-6.

Ng rebounded to get the Judges' first point in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Babson first-year Rafael Premisleaner (Ojai, Calif.). Sophomore Chris Kolesnik (Staten Island, N.Y.) dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision at number three, while senior Brandon Rosenbluth (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) was beaten by sophomore Anupreeth Coramutla (Monroe Township, N.J.), 6-1, 6-2, at number two.

Zhang lost a close first set before falling 7-5, 6-0 at fifth singles, and junior Alberto De Mendiola (San Jose, Costa Rica) was downed 6-2, 6-2 by Brandeis junior David Aizenberg (Highland Park, Ill.) at number one. First-year Ron Brody (Springfield, Mass.) also was defeated 6-3, 6-1 at number four.

Babson returns to action on Sunday when it hosts nationally-ranked Bates at 12 p.m., while Brandeis hosts Wheaton on Sunday at 10 a.m.
