BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College men's tennis team was unable to rally from an early deficit after doubles and suffered a 7-2 loss to 15th-ranked Tufts University on Saturday afternoon at the Babson Tennis Courts.
Babson, which has dropped two straight matches to nationally-ranked foes, is now 5-3 overall, while Tufts improves to 6-1 on the year.
The closest match in doubles came at number three where sophomores Dan Levitan (Winter Park, Fla.) and Dylan Pace (Atherton, Calif.) dropped a 9-7 decision. Junior Brandon Rosenbluth (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) and first-year Chris Kolesnik (Staten Island, N.Y.) fell 8-2 at number one, while senior Ben Roque (Coral Gables, Fla.) and first-year Andre Libnic (Coral Gables, Fla.) lost 8-4 at number two.
First-year Cameron Gruss (Kittery, Maine) picked up the Beavers' first point of the match with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph at number six singles. Levitan dropped the first set of his match at number four before rallying for a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9) victory.
Rosenbluth split the first two sets at number two before falling 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 to Jumbos' first-year Carl-Herman Grant (Oslo, Norway), while senior Dylan Levy (Miami, Fla.) forced a third set before suffering a 7-5, 6-7 (7-3), 1-0 (11-9) setback at number five singles.
Babson returns to action on Sunday when it travels to Coast Guard for its conference opener at 1 p.m.
