BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College men's and women's swimming & diving teams both won 10 of 11 swimming events on the way to sweeping visiting Clark University in dual meet action on Saturday afternoon inside Morse Pool. The Beavers won the men's half of the meet 117-83, while the Green and White defeated the Cougars, 117-88, in the women's half of the competition.
Six different swimmers won at least one event for the Babson women (7-1), which defeated Clark for the second year in a row. Sophomore Abigail Voce (Oxford, N.Y.) touched the wall first in both the 100-yard freestyle (54.94) and 200-yard freestyle (2:06.74), while first-year Angela Li (Belmont, Mass.) posted a time of 2:17.12 to win the 200-yard IM and also touched the wall first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:33.76).
Senior Tirza Rentovich (Harrisburg, Pa.) was victorious in the 50-yard freestyle, and first-year Lindsay Nowak (Charlotte, N.C.) won the 200-yard butterfly. Classmate Caitlin Caron (Cheshire, Conn.) finished first with a time of 1:31.55 in the 1000-yard freestyle to go along with a runner-up finish in the 200-yard backstroke, while fellow rookie Molly Cox (Orange, Conn.) won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:11.83 and came in second in the 50 free.
Sophomore Elizabeth Demoine (Avon-by-the-Sea, N.J.) was second in the 100 free and 200 breast, first-year Leah Smith (Sidney, Maine) was the runner-up in both the 500- and 1000-yard freestyle events, and junior Celine Nie (Irvine, Calif.) came in second in the 200 IM for the Beavers.
The Babson men (7-0) also had six swimmers win at least one individual event, which was highlighted by senior Alex Damiecki (Centerville, Mass.) and first-year Charles Wang (San Marino, Calif.) winning two races apiece. Damiecki touched the wall first in both the 200 free (1:47.13) and 500 free (4:59.40), while Wang won the 100 free in a time of 47.00 and followed it up by claiming the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:14.06 for the Green and White.
First-year Aaron Huynh (Mission Viejo, Calif.) won the 50 free in 21.29, senior Jack Lucero (Huntington Beach, Calif.) came in first in the 1000 free (10:18.72), first-year Alvin Oentoro (Houston, Calif.) was victorious in the 200 IM (2:01.45), and fellow rookie Mark Fanelli (La Cañada, Calif.) claimed a win in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:03.49. Fanelli added runner-up results in both the 200 breaststroke and 200 free, while Oentoro finished second in the 100 free.
Lucero was the runner-up in the 200-yard butterfly, junior Lachlan Dibbayawan (Bangkok, Thailand) was second in the 50 free, and classmate Connor O'Brien (Tempe, Ariz.) finished just behind Lucero in the 1000 free. Fellow junior Kevin Luu (Malden, Mass.) and sophomore Aiden Asuncion-Duong (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) also finished second in the 200 back and 200 IM, respectively.
Babson returns to action on December 6 when it begins competition at the three-day Gompei Invitational hosted by WPI.
