Men's Swimming & Diving Comes in Sixth in NEWMAC Preseason Poll

WESTWOOD, Mass.—The Babson College men's swimming & diving team was picked to finish sixth when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its preseason coaches' poll on Wednesday morning.

MIT, which captured its 11th straight conference title last winter, collected six of seven first-place votes to finish atop the poll. Coast Guard Academy picked up one first-place vote and finished second, while WPI, Wheaton College and Springfield College rounded out the top five.

Fourth-year head coach Kristy Martin Jones returns 11 swimmers from a team that went 9-4 in dual meets and set new program records in 11 different events last season. The Beavers finished with their highest point total (498) at the NEWMAC Championships since 2014 and came in fourth to record their program's best finish since 2012.

Babson opens the 2019-20 season with a dual meet at UMass Dartmouth on Friday at 4 p.m.
