BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College men's and women's swimming & diving teams were both recognized for their work in the classroom when they received College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America team honors late last week.
The awards marked the fourth consecutive semester that both the Beavers' squads have been honored by the CSCAA. In order for a team to be considered, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution for the spring term. The team GPA includes all eligible varsity student athletes.
Under the direction of second-year head coach Kristy Martin, the Babson men posted a team GPA of 3.60 during the spring term. The Green and White ranked third behind just Caltech (3.63) and Swarthmore (3.62) for the highest average in Division III.
The Beaver women recorded a team GPA of 3.38 and saw their team average rise for the fourth consecutive semester. Overall, 710 teams from 476 institutions across the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA received Scholar All-America honors from the CSCAA.
