WESTWOOD, Mass.—Five members of the Babson College men's swimming & diving team were honored when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon.
Sophomore Jack Lucero (Huntington Beach, Calif.) was honored as the league's swimmer of the week, while senior Mitchell Posk (Boynton Beach, Fla.), sophomore Alex Damiecki (Centerville, Mass.) and first-years Lachlan Dibbayawan (Bangkok, Thailand) and Kevin Luu (Malden, Mass.) were recognized as the conference's relay team of the week.
Lucero won all three races he participated in to help Babson pick up its fourth straight dual-meet win with a 172-121 victory over Springfield on Sunday. He opened the meet by claiming the 1000-yard freestyle by nearly 19 seconds with a time of 10:17.25, and then won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:03.18. Lucero wrapped up the meet with his third win of the day touching the wall in a time of 5:00.72 in the 500 free.
The Beavers' 200-yard medley relay team of Posk, Damiecki, Luu and Dibbayawan posted a time of 1:37.87 to finish first by more than two seconds in Sunday's dual meet. The time was just 0.19 seconds off the team's fastest mark of the season set back in December.
Babson returns to action on Thursday when it takes on Coast Guard at 1 p.m. as part of a men's and women's dual meet at Wellesley.
