Men's Swimming & Diving Sweeps, Women Split with Norwich and Regis

WESTON, Mass.—The Babson College men's and women's swimming & diving teams combined to win 14 events in Saturday's double-dual meet against Regis and Norwich at the Regis Pool. The Beavers overpowered the host Pride (157-45) and the Cadets (147-75) in the men's half of the meet, while the Babson women edged Norwich, 108-97, and fell to Regis, 135-85.

The Babson men won nine events, led by two individual victories apiece by sophomores Alex Damiecki (Centerville, Mass.) and Jack Lucero (Huntington Beach, Calif.). Damiecki touched the wall first in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard butterfly, while Lucero was victorious in both the 500- and 1000-yard freestyle. He also added a runner-up finish in the 200 free.

Senior Ross Ojerholm (Worcester, Mass.) came in first with a time of 51.24 in the 100-yard freestyle, and first-year Kevin Luu (Malden, Mass.) won the 50-yard backstroke in a time of 25.80. The duo was also part of the Beavers' victories in both the 400-yard medley relay and the 200 free relay.

Junior Kenneth Mun (Hacienda Heights, Calif.) was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke, first-year Kaden Shover (Boca Raton, Fla.) was the runner up in both the 100- and 200-yard freestyle, and classmate Lachlan Dibbayawan (Bangkok, Thailand) came in second in the 50 free and third in the 100 free for the Green and White. Fellow first-year Connor O'Brien (Tempe, Ariz.) added a second in the in the 1000 free and a third in the 500 free, while senior Mitchell Posk (Boynton Beach, Fla.) and first-year Taras Polakoff (Orange County, Calif.) came in second in the 50 free and 50 back, respectively.

The Babson women (1-5), who recorded their first dual-meet triumph since 2015, posted five wins and four runner-up finishes on Saturday. Six different swimmers were victorious on Saturday, led by sophomore Tirza Rentovich (Harrisburg, Pa.) and first-year Luna Zhang (Auburndale, Mass.). Rentovich came in first with a time of 56.45 in the 100 free and Zhang took the 100 breast with a time of 1:18.45. They also teamed with first-years Nataliya Gowan (San Antonio, Texas) and Jordan Mailly (Glastonbury, Conn.) to win the 400-yard medley relay.

Fellow first-year Celine Nie (Irvine, Calif.) touched the wall first in the 100-yard butterfly, and classmate Julia Ferrara (Coto de Caza, Calif.) was first in the 1000 free. Nie also was second in the 50 free, while Gowan recorded runner-up showings in both the 200 free and 50-yard backstroke.

Mailly added a second-place result in the 200 IM and Ferrara posted a third-place finish in the 500 free.

The Green and White returns to action next Saturday when it travels to Clark at 1 p.m. for its final dual meet of the fall semester.
