Paradis Tabbed NEWMAC Co-Diver of the Week


BABSON PARK, Mass. -- After winning three of this four diving competitions this week, Babson College senior Aaron Paradis (Norwich, Conn.) has been named the NEWMAC Co-Diver of the Week along with Springfield rival Brian Sobel. It was the third such honor for Paradis this season.

Paradis won three of his four diving events as the Beavers went 1-1 this week. On Thursday night, he won both the 1-meter (313.35 points) and 3-meter (308.55) events to help Babson defeat Bridgewater State 134-69. Then on Saturday, Paradis earned a split in a huge showdown with Springfield's Sobel, suffering his first loss of the season in the 1-meter (285.55) before coming back to win the 3-meter by a 319.90 to 317.25 margin. The Pride defeated the Beavers in the meet, 170-127.

The NEWMAC Diver of the Year after winning the conference championships in both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions as a freshman in 2007, Paradis will look to regain his crown when he faces Sobel and others at the 2010 NEWMAC Championships at Wheaton College on February 26-28.
