Erik Sundsted enters his eighth season as an assistant coach for the Babson men’s soccer program in 2015. During his time with the program, the Beavers have claimed four NEWMAC titles and have reached the NCAA Tournament six times in the last seven years.
A graduate of Syracuse University, Sundsted enjoyed tremendous success on the field, starting at midfield and forward for three nationally ranked teams. He currently holds the SU school records for most goals and most total points in a game and helped lead the Orange to the NCAA Tournament in 1984 and to the school's second Big East Conference Championship in 1985. He also played his freshman year at Ohio Wesleyan University, where he started at forward and led the team in assists during a campaign in which they were ranked fifth in the country and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Sundsted continued to play after college at the professional and semi-professional level for the Torrance Aztecs (Los Angeles, CA) and Faialense SC (Boston, MA). Since then, he has remained active as a player for various premier teams in New England. He also previously served as a TV and radio play-by-play broadcaster and color analyst for the New England Revolution of MLS, the Boston Bulldogs of the USL Pro League, and the Boston Renegades of the Women's W-League. He currently works as a Senior Market Analyst at MBHP, Inc. and is a small business owner.
A native of Pittsford, NY, Erik currently resides in Natick, MA with his wife and two children.
