Greenspan Named Division III Defensive Player of the Year, Hanlon Collects All-Rookie Team Selection

BABSON PARK, Mass.—A pair of Babson College men's soccer players were recognized when the New England Soccer Journal released its postseason awards over the last week. Senior Jackson Greenspan (Meriden, N.H.) was selected as the publication's Division III defensive player of the year, while first-year back Liam Hanlon (Boxborough, Mass.) was named to the all-rookie team.

Greenspan, who also was tabbed as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Defensive Player of the Year, anchored a defense that kept 11 clean sheets, its most since 2006, and conceded more than a single goal just twice in 19 matches. Offensively, he finished second on the team with a career-high five assists as the Beavers captured their second regular season conference title in three years.

A three-time all-league and 2018 first-team United Soccer Coaches All-New England selection, Greenspan started 72 of 75 career matches producing four goals and 11 assists for 19 points.

Hanlon burst onto the scene as a rookie starting all 19 games and pairing with Greenspan to give the Green and White one of the top center back pairings in Division III. He became the first Babson player to earn NEWMAC Rookie of the Year honors since 2009 and was named to the all-league second team after producing one goal and one assist for three points.

Babson finished the year with an overall mark of 12-3-4 after suffering a 1-0 loss to Springfield in the NEWMAC Tournament final on November 3.
