Sam Bensley was named head men’s and women’s alpine ski coach at Babson College in July 2016.
Bensley comes to Babson after spending the 2016 season as an assistant coach at fellow MacConnell Division member Brown University. He helped the Bears' women's program capture its fifth consecutive league title to go along with a third-place showing at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships, and a runner-up finish at nationals.
A 2012 graduate Saint Anselm College, Bensley was a four-year member of the men's alpine ski team and served as team captain in 2011 and 2012. He later returned to his alma mater as the head men's and women's alpine ski coach in 2015 and helped the Hawks' women's squad finish fifth in the league and sixth at the USCSA National Championships.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Bensley has an extensive teaching background and is currently employed by both by the Driscoll Extended Day Program and the Beaver Summer Camp, where he serves as the director of adventure challenge. Bensley served as a substitute teacher for the Brookline Public Schools during the 2015-16 academic year, and worked as a history teacher and outdoor skills instructor at The Community School in Tamworth, N.H., from 2014-15.
