CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine—Juniors MacIntyre Henderson (Park City, Utah) and Jack Blanchard (Dover, Mass.) finished first and second in the combined standings to help Babson College come in third over the weekend at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) Eastern Regional Championships at Sugarloaf Mountain.
By virtue of their third-place finish, the Beavers are headed to the USCSA National Championships for the 12th year in a row. The Green and White placed third in the giant slalom and second in the slalom, and came in behind Castleton and Connecticut on the combined leaderboard.
Henderson opened the weekend with two of the top runs of the day to finish first overall in the giant slalom. Blanchard came in seventh, junior Sean Robinson (Reno, Nev.) placed 16th, and classmate Eli Wolfson (Woodland Hills, Calif.) as Babson finished just 2.08 seconds behind GS winner Connecticut.
In Sunday's slalom, Blanchard placed second just behind Paul Rechberger of Castleton, while Henderson finished sixth. Robinson came in 12th overall and Wolfson finished in 31st position. Along with Henderson and Blanchard grabbing the top two spots in the individual standings, Robinson finished 11th and Wolfson placed 20th.
Babson returns to the slopes on March 13 when it begins national championship competition at Snow King Mountain in Jackson Hole, Wyo.
