WESTWOOD, Mass.—Four members of the Babson College men's lacrosse program were recognized for their work in the classroom when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its Academic All-Conference team last week.
Junior Brett Bottomley (Mercer Island, Wash.) was named to the squad for the second time, while sophomores Kevin Klempner (Stuart, Fla.), Harrison Page (North Andover, Mass.) and Tyler Patterson (Millstone Township, N.J.) were all honored for the first time.
Bottomley scored his first goal of the season and arguably the biggest of his career to help the Beavers clinch a share of the NEWMAC regular season title with a 12-11 win over MIT last Wednesday. He has also scooped up seven ground balls and caused three turnovers in 10 outings this spring.
A long-stick midfielder, Patterson has picked up seven ground ball and recorded two caused turnovers in nine contests, while both Page and Klempner have battled injuries through the year. Page has one goal and one assist for two points in four games, while Klempner returned to the lineup last week and is 12-of-22 on face-offs with six ground balls in three appearances.
Babson (9-6), which finished in a three-way tie atop the NEWMAC standings, earned the third seed in this week's conference tournament and will travel to second-seeded Springfield on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
