BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College first-year Mike Egan (Billerica, Mass.) added to his postseason awards as one of six players named to the United States College Hockey Online (USCHO) All-Rookie team on Friday afternoon.
Egan appeared in all 27 games and finished second on the team in scoring with 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points on the way to earning New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Rookie of the Year and all-conference third-team honors. He finished second among the league's first-year players in points and his four game-winning tallies were tied for second in the NEHC. Egan also scored twice on the power play, recorded eight multi-point games, and registered two assists on four occasions.
The Beavers' first conference rookie of the year in 16 years, Egan's 27 points are also the most by a Babson first-year since Jamas LaFreniere '06 produced 41 on the way to collecting ECAC East Rookie of Year honors back in 2003.
Joining Egan on the USCHO All-Rookie team were forwards Tyler Barrow and Donald Flynn of Wilkes University, defensemen Brendon Gysbers of St. Norbert College and Gabriel Chicione of Norwich University, and Hobart College goaltender Liam Lascelle.
Babson wrapped up the season at 17-7-3 overall and 11-4-3 in league play, and advanced to the conference tournament semifinals for the seventh year in a row.
