MARSHFIELD, Mass.—Babson college senior Bryan Botcher (Mequon, Wis.) was selected as the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Goaltender of the Week for the second time this season on Monday afternoon.
Botcher made a season-high 39 saves and posted his first shutout of the season in Babson's 3-0 win over No. 7/8 UMass Boston on Friday night. He stopped 15 shots in the opening period and turned away 13 over the final 20 minutes to help the Beavers stay alive in the NEHC regular season title rice with its first shutout in over a year.
In 13 starts this winter, Botcher is 9-3-1, ranks fourth in the leauge with a 2.06 goals against average and is third among conference goaltenders with a .929 save percentage. In 34 career games with the Green and White, he is 21-8-3 with a 2.03 goals againast average and a .930 save percentage.
Third-seeded and No. 15 USCHO.com Babson (16-6-3, 11-4-3 NEHC) will host sixth-seeded Skidmore (13-9-3, 9-6-3 NEHC) for the second year in a row in the conference tournament quarterfinals on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Beavers won last year's game, which was the program's longest since 1986, 10:26 into the second overtime.
