MARSHFIELD, Mass.—Babson College first-year Nick Rosa (Birmingham, Mich.) was selected as the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Rosa scored the game-tying goal at 13:35 of the third period and then scored the only goal of the shootout as the Beavers tied No. 2/3 Endicott, 1-1, and advanced to the W.B. Masson Winter Classic championship game on Friday in Plattsburgh. The Beavers suffered a 4-1 loss to the host Cardinals on Saturday night.
Rosa, who had scored in four consecutive games prior to Saturday, is tied for fourth on the team with nine points on five goals and four assists in 14 games this winter.
In addition to his honor, junior goaltender Matt Pompa (Palm City, Fla.) was named to the league's weekly honor roll. He posted a 1.99 goals against average and a .949 save percentage in two starts, which includes a career-high 46 saves against Endicott.
Babson (7-5-2, 5-2-1 NEHC) returns to league play with road games at No. 11/9 Hobart on Friday at 7 p.m. and at Skidmore on Saturday at 4 p.m.
