Babson and Hobart will open the season with a two-game series on Friday and Saturday in Geneva. The Beavers are 9-1-0 in all-time against the Statesmen in a series that dates back to the 1987-88 season, although the teams have met just twice since 1999.

Senior Bill Seligman scored the go-ahead goal at 16:03 of the third period as the Beavers defeated Hobart, 4-2, in the season opener for both teams on October 30, 2015, in Babson Park. Senior Dan Casey and junior Charlie Ackerman both added a goal and an assist for the Beavers, who got 32 saves from Jamie Murray '16. Junior Colin Clapton and Mac Olson scored 49 seconds apart midway through the first period for the Statesman.

Tommy Fiorentino scored three times as Hobart rallied from a two-goal first-period deficit for a 5-3 victory over Babson in the Cape Cod Lighthouse Tournament on November 26, 2011, in Hyannis, Mass. Trevor Hines '13 netted a pair of goals in the first period for the Beavers.

No. 6 6 Hobart (0-0-0) returns 22 players from a squad that captured the ECAC West title and reached the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals after finishing 21-5-2 overall. Seniors Bobby Sokol (8-16-24) and Nick Bingaman (8-15-23) are the team's top returning scorers, while classmate Bo Webster returns from injury after leading Hobart with 17 assists and 25 points during the 2014-15 campaign. Senior Carl Belizario (4-10-14) earned AHCA All-America East second-team honors last season and junior goaltender Frank Oplinger went 10-2-0 with a 1.81 goals against average and a .936 save percentage last winter.

No. 10 11 Babson (0-0-0) brings back 23 players from a team that reached its fourth straight conference tournament championship game and went 19-6-3 last season. The Beavers return their top eight scorers, led by senior Tim Searles (8-15-23), who earned All-NEHC honorable mention accolades last year, and classmate Bill Seligman (8-14-22), who has scored 23 goals over the last two seasons. Ackerman (12-6-18) led the Green and White in goals and junior Jake Donahue (2-10-12), one of six returners along the blue line, finished second among defensemen in scoring a year ago. Sophomore Matt Pompa made six appearances between the pipes last season going 5-1-0 with a 1.56 goals against average to go along with a .936 save percentage and three shutouts.

The Beavers tied for second nationally in scoring defense last year allowing just 1.68 goals per game, while Hobart ranked fifth in Division III at 1.93 goals.

The Green and White went 1-1-1 last season against ECAC West foes, including a tie against Nazareth and a loss at Elmira after defeating both teams at home during the 2014-15 campaign.

Babson has won its season opener in each of the last three seasons and is 5-2-0 on opening night going back to 2009.

The Green and White enters the season having been ranked in 62 straight polls and 64 consecutive polls dating back to the 2013. The Statesmen are one of six opponents on Babson's schedule that are either ranked or receiving votes in the preseason national polls.

The Beavers went 18-2-1 when scoring first in 2015-16.
