Leer, Berto Receive ECAC East All-Academic Accolades

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- The ECAC East men's ice hockey league announced its 11th annual All-Academic Team last week, and among the 81 individuals who received honors were a pair of Babson College student-athletes. Junior Matt Leer (Edina, Minn.) received ECAC East All-Academic recognition for the third straight season, while sophomore Connor Berto (Lake Forest, Ill.) garnered All-Academic honors for the second year in a row.

Leer played in 25 of the team's 26 games in his third season at Babson, scoring three goals, including one game-winner, and adding two assists for five total points. In 72 career contests, he now boasts a total of seven goals and five assists for 12 points heading into his senior campaign.

Berto played in 14 games for the Beavers this season, finishing with one goal - a game-winner against Saint Anselm on January 20. Through his first two seasons at Babson, he now had two goals and two assists for four points in 30 career contests.

In order to earn All-Academic status, Leer and Berto had to compete in at least half of the Beavers' games while also posting a grade point average of 3.00 or above.
