Testa Helps Ice Hockey Double Up Connecticut College, 4-2
NEW LONDON, Conn.--Rookie net-minder Zeke Testa (Wellesley, Mass.) stopped 20 of 22 shots to lead the Babson College men's hockey team (6-5-1) to a 4-2 victory against Connecticut College (3-9) at Dayton Arena Saturday afternoon. Casey Fazekas (Montreal, Que.) and Terry Woods (Duxbury, Mass.) each had a goal and an assist for the Beavers, who outshot the Camels, 32-22, in the triumph.
Connecticut College junior Joe Capuano (Melrose, Mass.) contributed a goal and an assist for the Camels after scoring two goals in Friday night's win against UMass-Boston. Senior Sean Driscoll (Peabody, Mass.) potted the 13th goal of his career and Julien Boutet (Amos, Que.) dished out two assists for the hosts. Greg Parker (Trenton, Ont.) finished with 28 saves for Connecticut College.
The Beavers took a 2-1 lead 2:48 into the second period. PT Donato (Arlington, Mass.) won a faceoff to Fazekas, who buried a slap shot from the left point. Later on in the second, the hosts were hit with a five-minute major penalty. The Camels successfully skated off the infraction and were 4-for-4 in penalty killing situations in the contest. However, 18 seconds after the penalty expired and with eight seconds left in the frame, Shane Farrell (West Warwick, R.I.) scored a critical goal that vaulted the Beavers out to a 3-1 advantage.
With 13:30 remaining in regulation, Capuano buried a one-timer near the left circle to make it a 3-2 game. But the Camels could not get any closer and Woods put in an empty netter with 22 seconds remaining to seal the victory for the Beavers.
