The Babson College golf team wrapped up its 2009-10 season with another successful showing at the Johnson & Wales University Wildcats Spring Invitational at the Cranston Country Club this weekend, as the Beavers finished second out of 15 teams at the two-day event. Babson was led by junior captain Bryan Eger, who rebounded from an opening round 80 with a tournament-best round of 69 on Sunday. As a result, he vaulted into fourth place overall with a combined score of 149. Sophomore Joe Young carded a 75 on Sunday to finish sixth overall with a two-day total of 153, and senior captain Fernando Pineres capped off his stellar career by placing ninth with a total score of 153. The Babson College golf team claimed its third tournament victory on Thursday, as the Beavers finished first at the Western New England College Invitational at the Veterans Golf Course. Babson finished atop the 12-team field with a total score of 306 - three strokes ahead of host WNEC and eight better than third place Brandeis. Sophomore Joe Young paced the Beavers with his team's second medalist performance of the year, as he took first place out of 60 golfers with a round of 72. Sophomore Camilo Perlaza carded a 77 to place sixthoverall, while senior captain Fernando Pineres and junior Matt Foley finished in a tie for 13th with matching rounds of 79. [+]
The Babson College golf team posted a team score of 321 on day two of the Hampton Inn Classic hosted by UMass-Dartmouth on Sunday. As a result, the Beavers vaulted four places to finish eighth overall out of 19 teams at the event. Senior captain Fernando Pineres recorded Babson's top individual finish of the tournament, firing a second round of 78 to finish in a tie for 15th overall with a two-day total of 161. Junior captain Bryan Eger finished 36th with a two-round score of 168, sophomore Camilo Perlaza followed in 38th with a 169, and sophomore Joe Young came in 41st with a 170. [+]
