FREDERICKSBURG, Va.—Babson College junior Chris Bornhorst (West Newton, Mass.) was selected as the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Golfer of the Week for the second time this season on Tuesday morning.
Bornhorst carded back-to-back rounds of 1-over 72 to finish in a tie for fifth position at 2-over 144 in the Tim Brown Invitational at Ballston Spa Country Club last weekend. He made three birdies and four bogeys in each round and lowered his season scoring average to 73.88 as the Beavers saw their four-tournament winning streak come to an end with a sixth-place finish despite posting a team total of 593.
Bornhorst, who leads the 22nd-ranked Beavers in scoring average, has finished at par or better in seven of 16 rounds, and has registered four top-five finishes in eight tournaments this season.
Babson returns to action on Thursday at 11 a.m. when it begins play at the 54-hole CAC Championship at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, Va. The winner of this weekend's conference tournament will punch their ticket to the 2018 NCAA Division III Championship.
