WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.—The Babson College men's golf team posted a final round score of 310 and finished in a tie for fifth place at the Williams College Invitational at Taconic Golf Club on Sunday.
The host Ephs, which held a seven stroke lead over the Beavers entering the day, ran away from the field to finish atop the leaderboard with a 36-hole total of 588. Husson University came in second at 605, Trinity College was third at 607 and St. John Fisher College placed fourth at 609. Johnson & Wales finished in a tie for fifth with the Green and White at 613.
Sophomore Lane Bohman (Chatham, Mass.) followed up Saturday's 1-over par round of 72 with an 80 on Sunday to grab a share of 12th position at 10-over 152. Junior Chris Bornhorst (West Newton, Mass.) carded the Beavers' low round of the day, a 3-over 74, to tie for 16th place with a 36-hole total of 11-over 153.
First-year Nicholas Gianelos (West Chester, Pa.) closed with a 7-over 78 and posted a tie for 23rd at 12-over 154, while senior Riley Whitham (Harvard, Mass.) shot an 80 on Sunday and tied for 32nd position at 14-over 156. First-year Burt Gesner (Severna Park, Md.) rounded out the squad with a final round 78 to tie for 37th place overall at 15-over 157.
Babson returns to action on October 1-2 when it travels to Flowery Branch, Ga., for the Royal Lakes-Ogelthorpe Invitational at Royal Lakes Golf and Country Club.
• The Beavers have posted nine top-five finishes at Williams, which includes coming 5th-4th-T-5th over the last three seasons.
• Sunday's team total of 310 and the 36-hole total of 613 were both the highest of the season for Babson.
• Bohman has now tied for 12th place on the individual leaderboard in each of his appearances at Taconic GC.
