WARWICK, R.I.—Sophomore Chris Bornhorst (West Newton, Mass.) posted a one-shot victory with a 1-over par round of 73 as the Babson College men's golf team finished second at the snow-shortened Rhode Island College Invitational at Valley Country Club on Saturday.
After getting snowed out on Friday, the Beavers finished with a team total of 307, which was just two strokes behind the host Anchormen, which came in first at 305. Roger Williams (314) finished third, while Salem State (317) and Johnson & Wales (317) tied for fourth place.
Bornhorst recorded his third victory in seven events this season for the Beavers, who had not finished better than third at the Rhode Island Invitational going back to 2013. First-year Lane Bohman (Chatham, Mass.) shot 77 to tie for eighth place, while junior Riley Whitham (Harvard, Mass.) finished in a tie for 13th position after firing a 6-over 78.
Babson will return to the course next Friday when it begins play at the UMass Dartmouth Hampton Inn Invitational at Allendale Country Club.
