Bornhorst Collects GCAA/PING All-New England Honors

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla.—After leading the Babson College men's golf team to its third straight New England Collegeiate Conference (NECC) title and NCAA Championship appearance, first-year Chris Bornhorst (West Newton, Mass.) was named to the Division III Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA)/PING All-New England team on Tuesday night.

The NECC Player and Rookie of the Year, Bornhorst came in first at the NEIGA Championship back on October 24 and posted seven top-10 finishes in nine events leading up to the NCAA Championship. His 75.35 stroke average not only leads the team, but is also the lowest single-season scoring average by any Babson player dating back to 1992. Additionally, Bornhorst is the only player in school history to earn GCAA/PING and NEIGA all-region honors in the same season.

Along with his individual success, Bornhorst helped the Beavers to one of their best seasons in recent memory. The Green and White won team titles at the NEIGA Championship, the Roger Williams Invitational and Westfield State Invitational. Babson also posted a team scoring average of 306.00 in 20 competitive rounds prior to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The Beavers open second round play on the El Campeon course at Mission Inn Resort on Wednesday at 12 p.m.
