Men's Golf Finshes Second at Bentley Newport Classic

MIDDLETOWN, R.I.—First-year Chris Bornhorst (West Newton, Mass.) finished in a four-way tie for second place with a round of 1-over par 73 to help the Babson College men's golf team come in second at the Bentley Newport Classic at Newport National Golf Club on Tuesday.

The Beavers posted a team score of 18-over 306 to finish just three shots behind the host Falcons. St. Rose, one of three Division II squads in the field, came in third at 307, while Tufts placed fourth with a team total of 312.

Bornhorst's 73 left him one shot behind John Perkins of Bentley, who finished atop the 42-man field with an even-par round of 72. Junior Kyle Alexander (Brewer, Maine) tied for sixth position with a 2-over 74 and sophomore Riley Whitham (Harvard, Mass.) carded a 5-over 77 to finish in a tie for 13th place.

Senior Bobby Quirk (East Greenwich, R.I.) fired a season-low 82 to tie for 26th, while first-year Martin Jensen (Bronxville, N.Y.) signed for an 86.

Babson returns to action on Thursday at 10 a.m. when it heads to Springfield for the Western New England Invitational at Veterans Golf Club.
