Quirk, Whitham Earn NECC Academic All-Conference Honors

ATTLEBORO, Mass.—Babson College senior captain Bobby Quirk (East Greenwich, R.I.) and sophomore Riley Whitham (Harvard, Mass.) were honored for the work in the classroom when they were named to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference team late last week.

To be eligible for the NECC Academic All-Conference team, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.40 grade point average and have achieved sophomore status at their respective institution.

Quirk, who has been a part of three consecutive NECC championships, has played 24 career rounds and owns an 85.58 stroke average. He finished in a tie for 13th position at the 2013 conference tournament and will lead the Beavers into the their third consecutive NCAA Division III Championship in May.

The 2015 NECC Player and Rookie of the Year, Whitham should return to the lineup this spring after missing the first two months of the season due to injury. He was named to the Golf Coaches Association of America/PING All-Northeast Region team last spring after posting the program's lowest scoring average (76.81) in a decade.

Babson, which captured its third consecutive NECC crown back in October, will open the spring portion of its schedule at the Rhode Island College Invitational on March 31.
