Men's Golf Tied for Second After Day One at NEIGA Championship

BREWSTER, Mass.—Junior Kyle Alexander (Brewer, Maine) and first-year Chris Bornhorst (West Newton, Mass.) both finished at 3-over par 75 as the the Babson College men's golf team sits in a tie for second place after the first round of the 82nd annual NEIGA Championship at the Captains Course.

The Beavers posted a team score of 311 on the 6,776-yard, par-72 Starboard Course and are tied with Husson just four shots behind first-round leader Nichols. Salem State (315) and Western New England (318) are fourth and fifth, respectively.

Alexander and Bornhorst are part of a five-way tie for second place behind Zachary Temple of Castleton, who holds the first-round lead after shooting a 73 on Sunday. First-year Martin Jensen (Bronxville, N.Y.) carded a 5-over par 77 for the Green and White, which was the runner-up in 2014 and finished tied for second at the 2015 NEIGA Championship.

Junior Ian Notkin (Caldwell, N.J.) shot an 84 on Sunday, while classmate Pranav Mohan (Fremont, Calif.) recorded a first-round 85 for the Beavers.

Babson will begin final round play on the Port Course beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday.
