The New England Basketball Coaches Association (NEBCA) will hold their annual Division III Senior All-Star Game this Sunday, April 18, at Babson College, with all proceeds benefitting the Coaches vs. Cancer campaign. The game will feature many stars who have garnered All-America status as well as All-Region, All-Conference, and Conference Player of the Year honors. The teams will play at Staake Gymnasium on the campus of Babson College this Sunday, April 18 at 1:00pm. Admission into the game is free. [+]

Matt Cavalieri recorded a double-double, leading five players in double figures, as the Springfield College men's basketball team advanced past Babson College, 71-65, on Wednesday evening in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament Quarterfinal. With the loss, the Beavers see their season come to a close with a record of 10-16. Alex Rudolph and Marcus McDermott each tallied 12 points in the loss, while Dana Mauro came off the bench to pump in 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting. Matt Florio snagged a team-best seven rebounds and McDermott dished out five helpers. [+]

Four of Babson's winter sports are set to head into postseason play this week, as men's and women's basketball, ice hockey, and men's swimming and diving enter their respective conference championships. Headlining this week's competition will be the women's basketball team, which finished the regular season with a record of 22-3 overall and became the first team in NEWMAC history to go 18-0 in league play. The Beavers, who have won 14 straight games - the second longest streak in program history - are the top seed in the NEWMAC Tournament, and will begin their defense of their 2009 NEWMAC title with a home quarterfinal game against eighth-seeded Coast Guard Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Tickets will be $4 for adults, $2 for senior citizens, and $1 for students with IDs, with Babson students being admitted free of charge courtesy of the Student Government Association.
