Men's Basketball Picked Third in NEWMAC Preseason Poll

WESTWOOD, Mass.—The Babson College men's basketball team was picked to finish third when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its preseason coaches' poll on Tuesday morning.

WPI and Emerson each collected four first-place votes with the Engineers finishing just ahead of the Lions, who won their first NEWMAC Tournament championship last winter. The third-place Beavers were followed by Springfield College in fourth place and MIT, which came in fifth after capturing the league's regular season title last year.

The Green and White returns 12 players from a team that went 15-11 overall and 8-6 in conference play before ending its season with a NEWMAC Tournament quarterfinal loss to WPI. Included in this group are a pair of all-conference honorees and five of the team's top seven scorers under the direction of head coach Stephen Brennan, who enters his 25th season in charge of the program.

The Beavers open the season on Saturday when they host Anna Maria at 5:30 p.m. in the opening round of the 36th Babson Invitational Tournament.
