WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College senior Connor Gill (Sterling, Mass.) was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week, while junior Michael Nocchi (Manasquan, N.J.) collected the league's pitcher of the week award on Monday afternoon.
Gill batted .429 (6-for-14) with a double, five runs scored, three stolen bases and one RBI in a three-game series at No. 3/4 Trinity over the weekend in San Antonio, Texas. He recorded a pair of multi-hit games and had at least one hit, one run scored and one stolen base in all three outings for the Beavers.
Gill has now hit safely in 11 straight contests going back to last season, which includes recording two or more hits on seven occasions during the streak.
Making just his fifth career start and second since the end of 2017, Nocchi gave up just one earned run over 6.2 innings to help Babson edge the Tigers, 6-5, in the middle game of the series on Saturday night. He recorded a career-high seven strikeouts while walking none in a no-decision.
No. 18 D3baseball/No. 17 Collegiate Baseball Babson (1-2) returns to action on March 15 when it takes on Ohio Wesleyan in Port Charlotte, Fla., at 12 p.m.
