THE SERIES

Babson and Worcester State will meet for just the seventh time on Sunday afternoon in Florida. The Beavers are 4-2 all-time against the Lancers although the teams have not played since 2011.

LAST MEETING
Billy Miller went 4-for-6 with a grand slam, three runs scored and seven RBI to help Babson outslug Worcester State, 17-14, on March 27, 2011, in Worcester. Joe Nixon had three hits and drove in four runs, while Travis Jonasson went 2-for-4 with two RBI and four runs scored for the Beavers. Kyle Wilson went 2-for-5 with a double and three runs batted in to lead the Lancers.

LAST WORCESTER STATE WIN
The Lancers defeated the Beavers, 9-3, on May 13, 2004, in Babson Park.

SCOUTING THE LANCERS
Worcester State (1-3) has dropped three straight after suffering a 7-1 loss to Lasell in the second game of a doubleheader back on March 8. First-year Chadd Richardson went 1-for-3 with an RBI and classmate Kevin Larkin chipped in with a double for the Lancers, who had just six baserunners in the contest. Larking is hitting .500 with two doubles, first-year Ben Palatino has three doubles, a home run and six RBI in three games and sophomore Mike Ferrara is batting .400 with a double and five runs batted in. Worcester State's pitching staff has fanned 36 while allowing 25 earned runs in 31.0 innings this spring.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
Babson (2-3) is looking to rebound from an 11-1 loss to Illinois Wesleyan on Friday afternoon in its Florida debut. Sophomore Nicholas Browne went 2-for-3 and classmate Connor Gill doubled and drove in the lone run of the game for the Beavers, who allowed seven first-inning runs. Sophomore Brian McHale is 5-for-10 at the plate with a double and three RBI, Brown is batting .300 with a double and a homer, and senior Jack Halpin is hitting .286 with a home run and a team-high five runs batted in. Sophomore Teddy Carey is 2-0 with 14 strikeouts in 13.0 innings, while junior John Flogel has a 1.80 ERA in three appearances out of the bullpen.

WHAT'S AHEAD
The Beavers, who played two against Bowdoin on Saturday, will take on Clarkson (Tuesday), Union (Wednesday) and St. Thomas (Thursday) to wrap up their Florida swing.

PROVIDING THE POWER
Halpin, Gill and junior Mark Webber combined to produce 16 extra-base hits while driving in 19 runs for the Beavers in nine games in Florida last season.

REPEAT HONORS
Carey, who has not given up an earned run this season, collected his second consecutive NEWMAC Pitcher of the Week award on Monday. He allowed just an infield single against Mass. Maritime and is now 5-1 with a miniscule 0.51 ERA in 35.0 innings over his last six appearances.

KEEPING IT IN THE YARD
The Babson pitching staff has not allowed a home run in six consecutive games going back to last season's NEWMAC Tournament.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
The Beavers have recorded at least one extra-base hit in 18 of their last 20 games going back to last season.
