Miller, Kucher Lead Baseball's Six All-NEWMAC Selctions
BABSON PARK, Mass.—The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its annual postseason baseball awards on Thursday, and Babson College saw six honored for their achievements on the field and in the classroom. Senior outfielder Billy Miller (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) and junior third baseman Chris Kucher (Westwood, Mass.) were both named to the All-NEWMAC First Team, while a pair of right-handed starting pitchers, junior Kyle Lyon (Flemington, N.J.) and sophomore Matt Grenier (Rochester, N.H.), were honored as Second Team All-NEWMAC selections. In addition, Grenier, senior pitcher Jeff Buress (Cumberland, R.I.), and sophomore P/OF Sean Lanahan (Avon, Conn.) were selected to the NEWMAC All-Academic Team for their success in the classroom.

Babson Teams Set For Huge Saturday
In addition to the top-seeded women’s lacrosse team hosting its conference semifinals and finals this weekend, three other Babson teams will take part in postseason play on Saturday. Third-seeded baseball will serve as co-host of the 2012 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament along with top-seeded Wheaton, second-seeded softball heads to top-seeded Springfield for a huge winners’ bracket matchup, and the track and field teams will travel to Smith for the 2012 NEWMAC Championships.

Trevor Boyce hit a two-run homer for the Beavers, while Travis Jonasson and Chris Kucher combined to go 7-for-7.

The Lyons used a four-run third earning to help them slip past the Beavers 4-3 in the first game of the day. With the win, Babson (9-9, 5-4 NEWMAC) took two out of three games from Wheaton (15-3, 7-2 NEWMAC) during their weekend series.

The pair helped the Beavers to a 4-2 week, including a pair of wins over conference foe MIT on Friday and Saturday.

Former Babson Greats Ahern, Aizenstadt Continue To Make Headlines On The Mound
Former Babson College baseball stars Dave Ahern (Bedford, Mass.) and Andrew Aizenstadt (Norwell, Mass.) are continuing to make headlines following their graduation this past May. Ahern recently signed a professional contract with the Independent League New York Federals as a pitcher, while Aizenstadt has earned a coveted season-long contract with the Falmouth Commodores of the prestigious Cape Cod League.
