Men's Skiing Ready For ECSC Regional Championships
BABSON PARK, Mass. -- For the fifth straight year and the ninth time in the last 10 seasons, the Babson College men's ski team has qualified for the Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference (ECSC) Regional Championships. The Beavers will compete in the event at Sugarloaf on Saturday and Sunday, needing a fifth-place finish overall to earned their fifth consecutive bid to the USCSA National Championships.
Leading Babson into the weekend will be junior Zach Breakstone, who finished 18th in the regular season MacConnell Division standings thanks to a dominating stretch run that included two 10th-place efforts and one 11th-place showing in his final four races. He will be joined by first-year star Kevin Dachos, who finished 20th in the individual league standings on the strength of six top-20 performances, senior captain Greg LaFrance, who cracked the top 20 four times this winter to place 26th in the MacConnell Division, junior Richard Beneduci, who followed in 27th with a trio of top-20 efforts, and sophomore Clark Chamberlin, who added a pair of 19th-place performances on his way to a 35th-place showing in the conference standings.
Also adding depth to this year's team are junior Ryan Drake and first-year Nate Hoffman, who combined to post five top-40 finishes this season.
