Accomplishments: One of the most gifted soccer players to ever grace the fields of Babson, Jim Stento entered the Hall of Fame 19 years after his graduation in 1980. A native of Vestal, New York, Stento played at Vestal High School prior to his enrollment at Babson in the fall of 1977. As a freshman, he helped the Beavers capture the New England Championship on their way to a third-place finish in the NCAA Tournament. Two years later, Stento was named team MVP after leading coach Bill Roger's squad to its second NCAA title in five years. In addition to leading the team with eight goals and four assists that season, he was also selected to the All-New England team. That set up a remarkable senior season in which Stento captained the Beavers to a second consecutive national championship, making Babson the first Division III school in NCAA history to win three national titles. For his outstanding play that season, which included team-highs of seven goals and seven assists, he was named to the All-New England team for the second straight year, and was selected as a 1980 NSCA All-American.
