Babson Announces Five Honorees for 2009 Hall of Fame Induction
BABSON PARK, Mass. - The Babson College Athletics Department has announced that five new members will be inducted into its prestigious Hall of Fame next spring. The College's 12th dinner and induction ceremony will take place on Friday, April 17, 2009 to kick off a weekend Athletics celebration.
Entering the Hall will be longtime baseball coach and administrator Frank Millerick, baseball great David DiGangi '94, soccer stars Jim Fisher '83 and Dan Pucci '98, and hockey standout Jim Creamer '90. Millerick coached the Babson baseball team to 178 victories during his career - the most by any coach in program history. He also served numerous administrative roles, including Director of Athletics from 1997 to 2005. One of Millerick's former players, DiGangi was brilliant on the diamond for the Beavers, hitting .355 with 95 runs and 99 RBIs in his career, including a brilliant senior campaign in which he eared conference Player of the Year honors after hitting .445 at the plate and saving six games on the mound.
Representing two different eras of Babson's storied men's soccer
program, Fisher and Pucci will enter the Hall after brilliant
careers. Fisher was a member of the 1979 and 1980 National
Championship teams, scoring the game-winning goal in the title game
as a freshman. He was also a two-time All-New England selection and
an All-American in 1982. He will be accompanied by two-time
All-American and 1996 CAC Player of the Year Pucci, who ranks third
on Babson's all-time list with 92 career points, including a
program record 34 assists. He also led the Beavers to the 1997 ECAC
New England Championship and after graduation was drafted to play
professional soccer in Europe.
One of the top defensemen in Babson ice hockey history, Creamer
helped lead the Beavers to an 81-31-10 record and four NCAA
Tournament bids during his four-year career, including Frozen Four
appearances in 1988, 1989, and 1990. He was named All-American in
each of his final two seasons, and won the J. Thom Lawler Award in
1990.
The five inductees will bring the Athletics Hall of Fame's
membership to 51.
