Babson Standout Kocaj Named Collegiate All-American, Will Participate in USA Rugby All-Star Week

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College rising junior Matilda Kocaj was recently selected as a Collegiate All-American and will participate in the USA Rugby's All Star Week beginning on Thursday in Greeley, Colorado.

Kocaj was one of 39 players chosen for the All-American XVs squad, which will face the Women's Premier League (WPL) East All-Stars on Friday at 7 p.m. ET. The All-Americans will play an exhibition game against the Glendale Merlins on Friday at 7:30 p.m., which will be followed by a contest against either the WPL West All-Stars or the D1/D2 All-Star team on Saturday.

Following a stellar sophomore campaign for Babson that included all-conference first-team honors with both the 15's in the fall and 7's in the spring, Kocaj participated in one of four USA Rugby Regional Opportunity Dates in June at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn. By virtue of her All-American selection, she will play in front national team staff as they prepare to choose their team for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Kocaj led all players with nine tries as Babson placed fifth in the eight-team USA Rugby 7s Division II National Championships in Arizona back in late May. She has continued her stellar play this summer, helping the New York Rugby Club team clinch a berth in the USA Rugby 7's National Championships on August 10-11.

All of the USA Rugby All Star Week games will be streamed live on Facebook.
