Baseball's Webber Wins BESBY for Most Impressive Streak of 2017-18

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Recent Babson College baseball graduate Mark Webber '18 was voted as the BESBY award winner for most impressive streak of the 2017-18 season on Friday in a poll on twitter.

Webber put together a 19-game hit streak from March 24-April 19 to match the third longest stretch with at least one knock in program history. He batted .377 (26-for-69) with eight doubles, three homers, 17 RBI and 24 runs scored during the streak, which came to an end in a 2-1 win over Emerson on April 20.

He followed up the hitless afternoon against the Lions with another seven-game streak and finished with at least one hit in 13 of the Beavers' final 15 outings.

Other nominees:
• 29 percent: Women's lacrosse junior Lexi Lenaghan (Hanover, Mass.) registered seven consecutive multi-goal games to end the season, which included at least four tallies in five of those contests.
• 19 percent: Men's basketball senior Nick Comenale (New York Mills, N.Y.) connected on at least one three-point field goal in each of Babson's final 21 games.
• 6 percent: Men's golf sophomore Chris Bornhorst (West Newton, Mass.) closed the season with five consecutive rounds at even-par or better, which included breaking par in each of his final three starts.
