Richards Promoted to Assistant General Manager at Babson Skating Center

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Following three and a half years as an operations assistant, Marshall Richards has been promoted to the position of assistant general manager at the Babson College Skating Center as announced by Assistant Athletics Director for Athletic Facilities and Recreation Andy Dutton.

Richards, who came to Babson in January 2014, replaces Eric Dursin, who accepted the position of Schneider Arena Rink Manager at Providence College after six years as the operations manager at the Babson Skating Center. In his new role, Richards will work directly with Dutton to oversee all operations at the rink, including providing a championship-level experience for our coaches and student-athletes, and developing new partnerships throughout the surrounding communities.

"Marshall has been a tremendous asset as part of the rink staff since joining us three years ago," said Dutton. "His knowledge, work ethic, and customer service skills have contributed to the success of our operations, and I'm looking forward to continue working with him in his new role."

Prior to joining the rink staff at Babson, Richards spent nearly two years in operations at the Canton Sports Plex and Bavis Arena in Rockland. He also worked for nearly five years as the operations manager at Wonderland of Ice in Bridgeport, Conn., from 2007-12.

"It is an honor to be a part of the Babson community, and I consider myself extremely fortunate to take on this new role," said Richards. "To be involved in the rink industry is truly a dream come true, and I could not have found a better place than the Babson Skating Center."

A four-year men's ice hockey player at Fairfield University from 1979-83, Richards graduated with a B.A. in political science. In addition to his operations experience, he was the head coach of the Fairfield men's club ice hockey team for seven years from 2004-11 and served as the co-head coach of the Lauralton (Conn.) High School girls ice hockey team from 2009-11.
